LoL, this is the ultimate mess around, find out device. My oldest two daughters were taking 30+ min showers, as a family we're averaging 6,500gal a month now (still too early to see a new avg). I put this on the downstairs shower, now they both shower upstairs... not for long. Going to order a second one, though hopefully I can figure out a bypass for wife... happy life 'n all. One thing I wish tho, I had to use the shower before the lockout window was up. And in the documentation, it doesn't indicate how to override the lockout. But I figured out that I can just press the cancel button on the remote to override.
And programming is a bit confusing at first.
All in all tho, it's a great product! Highly recommend. Even for me, helps me be more efficient with water useage.

Works perfectly. My elderly father in law kept leaving the shower on after he would get out and we wouldn’t discover it was on until hours later! He insisted he would turn off the water in the future, but after he left the water on several more times, I had to find an automatic solution. The shower wizard to the rescue. I set the shower for 10 min and on several occasions I have found the water faucet was left turned on full blast after he got out of the shower, but the wizard kicked in to turn off the water flow!

It’s worked great! I’ve had a few “hiccups” where my kid couldn’t turn it on. I realized it was due to the motion sensor not detecting them. The showerhead blocks much of the motion sensor.

This is my second Shower Wizard and the same exact thing happened to this one as to the last one! I received the latest device on March 24th. PRECISELY a month later, last night, it stopped working. Considering that the warranty is only 30 days, I'm thinking they are designed to do that. DO NOT BUY! I got fooled twice, really, shame on me.

I've been waiting for a product like this for years. I ran across the earlier version a year or so ago, but it was never available for sale when I checked. It seems clear now that the current version was in the works.
I've installed one so far, and two more are on the way. There's always drought risk where we live, and a chance that we'll run out of hot water with five people showering in the morning, but the most pressing issue was getting three teenagers to school in the morning. If not monitored, they could easily go over 30 minutes in the shower. I'd end up yelling and damaging our household calm. They'd end up late.
For the teen who now has the device the change seems miraculous. He is always on time and has not complained once. I have not had to say one word about getting out of the shower. It's been a life-changer, and I can only hope the transition goes as well with the other two teens.
By the way, the install took just minutes. It took a little longer to adjust time limits with the remote, but it was possible. An app would be easier.

I was really skeptical when I first got this. I have five children and ONE bathroom. It all started when, a while back, I was tired of asking the kids to turn off the hall light and decided to learn how to re-wire the hallway and install auto-on and auto-off lights. I was dumbfounded at how much this improved my life (and how much less frequently I yelled at the kids…). I only wished I could have a coin operated bathroom much like one would find at a campground. I didn’t image there was a device for families. I pictured myself having to buy an expensive coin operated system and install it. Not the case! I did a bit of research and decided to take a stab by buying the shower wizard. Wow. It was extremely easy to install, first of all. Charging was quick and easy. There is absolutely no leakage. And what’s pretty cool is that when the timer shuts off, it’s actually unnecessary to switch the shower to bath-mode to further drain as is usually the case when using my shower head attachment. I was pleasantly surprised to realize there is no pressure built up. We have “the diaper genie” bedet (spelling?) installed on our toilet for rinsing cloth diapers and with the Diaper Genie, it’s imperative that once you turn off the shut off valve near the toilet and THEN release pressure on the Diaper Genie’s nozzle. If this step is forgotten, The Diaper Genie eventually leaks. (I still love my Diaper Genie and have had it for TWELVE years now and it’s finally developed a leak). Anyhow, this Shower Wizard- it does not share the same issue at all. The shut off valve is spectacular and there is no pressure to release. What I mean is this: let’s say the water handle is turned to the “on” position and is turned to “shower” (not “bath”) and the shower wizard is running, thus allowing water to spray from the shower head. Now let’s say the shower wizard’s timer is up and the shower head now stops spraying. Okay, so now let’s turn the faucet handle to the “off” position. And NOW let’s switch to “bath” mode to let the drops come out to relieve pressure? No. No drops. No pressure. I love it. No more yelling, “your time in the shower is up! There are others waiting to showerrrrr!” Furthermore, I couldn’t afford the price, but was able to pay in four payments! That really made this possible for our family. Thank you to less stress, more happiness. More connection due to less stress. Cortisol is real. Not healthy. Anything to make this short journey on earth more connective and this definitely helps. I can't believe it took all these years to find this device. Kids go to college and come home with shower times AT LEAST double length. No more arguments. It's the devices fault!
I set mine to 14 minutes. For the moment I need two replacement shoulders and showering takes a little longer. I have never reached the 13th minute. So if physical demands are an issue, set it to what you need!
What's even better is once it's installed everyone suddenly becomes conscious of their shower times and the device never reaches the time limit.

I love the idea - I bought it because both my teenagers were having a hard time following a clock and I was tired at yelling at them to get out of the shower after 30 minutes. I programmed the timer for 15 minutes, thinking I would decrease the time 1 minute at a time as they adjusted - but I did find out that my 16yo was using the tub to heat the water (which is not monitored by the shower wizard) - so now I have cut the time down to 12minutes. The instructions I received with the product for re-setting the programmed times was inaccurate, but the info googled online did work. (you don't need the arrows, I think it's the * on the remote that actually adjusts the time).

I had the previous model with the big round button attached to a cord and it worked but not that well with 4 kids using it. This newer model seems to be working well! So happy with this purchase. Got my son down to 10 minutes in the shower from 45 minutes+. This thing actually works better than advertised. There are a few nice little features that I didn't see advertised. First it shuts the water off for about a half second then back on as part of the 1 minute warning, which is good if you aren't watching the light. Second, it let's you set the lockout time. I was a little worried my son would just wait out the preprogrammed 5 minute lockout so I upped it to 10 minutes. I've had it for about 6 weeks so far and the battery is still on original charge. Great product!

When I connected the device, I had a leak at the rubber grommet by the extension (no fault of the product). I replaced the existing corroded extension with a new one with nice smooth edges ($10 at Home Depot) and problem solved. I'm not sure how many customers have 30-year-old plumbing hardware, but maybe planning on replacing the existing extension while you have everything apart will save you a little time and hassle. Customer support is great.

I was very skeptical when ordering the shower wizard but it has been life changing. Our issue is a teenager that was taking too long of showers. This has eliminated the arguments and banging of bathroom doors. The only downside is keeping track of when to charge it but that is a very small issue considering how well it works.

My daughter turns on the shower and then sits on the toilet and just leaves the water running. Sometimes she'll get up and walk out of the bathroom and go to sleep and still leaves the shower running.
So much steam in moisture built up in the bathroom that is starting to get black mold in the walls downstairs.
Nothing would work to get her to stop doing this. I purchased the shower wizard and lo and behold the problem is now solved. There is no more steam build up or water all over the walls and floors because she has 8 minutes to take that shower and quickly has adjusted to just taking that long. I was getting PTSD always discovering it's running or wondering if it is and all of those problems are now gone. All of the moisture in the walls has dried up and gone away and I could not be more pleased with this product. It was a very quick and simple installation. Had some time to review the shower wizard. Kids will be Kids and find a way around every obstacle. First, waiting for the timer to reset and continue showing. So I set the reset time for 60 minutes. They just get back in the shower in one hour to continue. I set the timer to max 99 minutes, and now they take a Shower-Bath! filling and utilizing the tub to take an even longer time in the bath and using even more water. With all that said, the Shower wizard works perfectly! My kids have just outsmarted it.

This thing is awesome! Our 2 older kids were taking way too long in the shower. We tried "asking" them to keep it at 10 minutes but neither would comply consistently. At first, we would time them ourselves and then just go shut off the valve of the hot water heater after 10 minutes, but since we are not always here and also do not always hear the one in the basement get in, we decided to look online for something. My wife found the shower wizard and ironically enough, about 99% of the reviews were about the kids taking too long! We decided to get 2 (one for each of their showers) and man they are GREAT! Such a relief to not have to worry about how long they are in there. We set it at 10 minutes and then set the delay for 90 minutes so they can't turn it right back on. I told them it resets every day so they are not tempted to take another shower later. I HIGHLY recommend this thing if you want to save a lot of headache and useless discussions. Oh, and MONEY of course! Even though they were about $100, it was still cheaper than other options, and simpler. Also, when I ordered it, I could not figure out how to order 2 at the same time so I had to put them in separately, but I am glad because after the first purchase, they sent me a 10% discount code so I got the 2nd one for 10% off!

As a parent I know what you’re thinking. Kids are killing my water bill, the gas/electric bill to heat the water and the wear and tear it puts on your water heater. So you go onto google and see whats out there. This product is amazing and you don't have to search anymore. My two daughters have always been respectful of not just leaving the water running. Now my son thinks he needs an hour to shower and runs the water the whole time. Then try's to justify it by saying it takes that long to get clean. Now he is under 10 min and who would have guessed he still feels clean. Installation super easy. The only minor con is the controller kinda wished it had a led screen so you could see your changes as you make them. But it is a minor con because once you get use to it and figure it out then it’s not a problem. You easily and quickly make your money back from the savings per month.

I think my son actually benefits from having the structure and rigidity of knowing that 10 minutes means exactly that...10 minutes. He's been fairly upbeat and positive about using this device. I am therefore, chalking it up as a win/win for us. Maintaining a charge capability is a bit cumbersome, but it's worth it. Perhaps a version with swappable rechargable batteries could come along in a future version. Either way, thank you for developing this device.

This is the easier thing to install and set up. I purchased 2 of these and had them installed in less than 5 minutes total. As a mom with 5 teens at home and a tankless water heater, I needed something to stop several of my kids from having 1 hour showers everyday. Even worse, we are on septic and it cannot handle the amount of water. This is going to be such a win for my sanity.
